Scotty Lago visited us last week! He answered everyone's questions (all of them!), signed snowboards, goggles, shirts and a boot, and gave personalized autographed posters to everyone. He even passed his bronze medal around for everyone to see up close.This is the last week of "Make a Splash--Read!". I hope you've had as much fun as I have :)
Monday, 4pm: Monday Movie--Surf's Up. Surf’s Up goes behind the scenes of the high-octane world of competitive penguin surfing. Cody Maverick, an up-and-coming surfer, enters his first pro competition. Inspired by his hero, a legendary wave rider named Big Z, Cody leaves his family and his town of Shiverpool, Antarctica to travel to Pen Gu Island for the Big Z Memorial Surf Off. Cody believes that winning will bring him the admiration and respect he desires. But when he unexpectedly comes face to face with a washed up old surfer named The Geek, Cody begins to understand that the greatest champion isn’t always the one who comes in first.
Tuesday, 10am: Families First Parent Recharge. Kick back, get involved in relaxing activities, and recharge your parenting battery. Child care is free for ages 12 and under--advance signup required--and refreshments included. Call 422-8208 x2
1-5pm: Sand Art! Draw a design, then color it in with sand! Or just freehand with the lovely colors.
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 11 IS THE LAST DAY TO TURN IN YOUR READING LOG! IF YOU WANT WATER COUNTRY OR TOPSFIELD FAIR TICKETS, I MUST SEE YOUR LOG BEFORE THE FINAL PARTY!
Wednesday, 6pm: Pajama Story Time and Stuffed Animal Sleepover! Wear your jammies and bring a stuffed friend. We'll start with a craft, then wind down with stories and songs. Then we'll make nametags for your stuffed friends and say goodnight to them--so please bring an animal you can stand to leave. They will spend the night in the library! When you pick them up on Thursday (at the Final Party--hint hint!), they will have a small book with pictures and the story of their night.
Thursday, 3:30pm: Final Party with Magician Peter Boie! Ok, folks, this is IT! Peter Boie is a fantastic award-winning magician who has performed hundreds of shows since he was 11. He'll have you laughing and gasping in amazement :) There will be a display of all the items the children have earned for the NHSPCA and the Food Pantry.There will, of course, be treats and final prizes as well--books for all, Topsfield Fair tickets for our 6-hour readers, and Water Country tickets for our 8-hour readers. 8 lucky 8-hour readers will also win Canobie Lake Park passes!
