The actual voting for the award happens next month as well so choose your favorite book--adults can't vote, so it's up to you...

Great Stone Face and Christmas!

4th, 5th and 6th graders are invited to the library for hot chocolate, Christmas cookies, and great books! Diary of a Wimpy Kid prizes will be given for book reviews. We'll also be reading scripts and casting for book trailers, so bring your ideas of how to turn one of the GSF books into a mini-movie.

The Final Great Stone Face and Pizza--with Matthew Cody!


4th, 5th and 6th graders, this is IT: The final Great Stone Face and Pizza of the school year! So, not only will you get to discuss and vote for your favorite books(no adults are allowed to vote--it's all up to you) and eat pizza, but we'll have a Skype visit with author Matthew Cody, who wrote "Powerless"! This is an awesome opportunity to talk to the author of a superhero book--especially since the superheroes are kids. Don't miss your chance...

GSF Book Review: Tango

Tango

Tango is a New York yorkie owned by the rich couple Marcellina and Diego. But when Marcellina buys Diego a sailboat, Tango is stranded on Victoria-by-the-Sea.

Would you be friends with the main character? Yes. I like dogs. I know a family who has a yorkie. The man's family is from Prince Edward Island.

Favorite character: Tango
Least favorite character: Diego

Would you recommend this book to a friend? yes because you really get into it. You won't want to put the book down. When you do, you can't wait to find out what happens next.

One word descriptions: Exciting, anticipating.

Other books like this: Even though I've enver read it, I think it's like "Hotel for Dogs".

Logan Forbs moved to a murderer's house and made a friend called Arthur and they try to discover the murderer.

Would you be friends with the main character? Yes because he is nice, not mean, adventurous and not a bully.

Favorite character: Logan
Least favorite character: Silas

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Yes because it's very mysterious and you want to keep reading and it is a good mystery book.

One word descriptions: mysterious--keep reading.

Daniel finds out his friends have superpowers, but he doesn't. They go to a hideout and make him promise not to tell. Molly is a flyer. But on their 13th birthdays they lose their powers, so he decides to protect them.

Would you be friends with the main character? Yes because he looks alone and acts like a real friend--he keeps secrets.

Favorite character: Molly
Least favorite character: The bad guy.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Yes because it's interesting.

One word descriptions: Exciting, interesting, unbelievable--not possible.

It's about a boy named Hap. His dad was sent to a mountain because he was begging. In his town they can't beg.

Would you be friends with the main character? I'm not sure because he steals somebody's things but he is friendly.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? No because I don't feel like it.

GSF Book Review--My Life in Pink and Green

Brief Description: Lucy's family pharmacy is running out of money. She's in a group called "Earth Club", and she finds a Going Green grant in her town. She starts a Relaxation Room, and decides to have an eco-spa for the grant.

Would you be friends with the main character? Yes

Why or Why Not: Lucy is very creative like me. I could probably help her if I went to the pharmacy.

Favorite character: Lucy

Least Favorite character: Erica

Would you recommend this book to a friend: Yes

Why or why not: It was a really great book. I liked it a lot.

Great Week for Kids!

Wednesday, 6pm--Family Thanksgiving Story Time. This is an all ages drop in story time. We'll read Thanksgiving stories and make a fun Thanksgiving craft for you to take home.

Thursday, 6pm--Great Stone Face and Pizza. 4th, 5th, and 6th graders are invited back to talk about the GSF books they've read, pick up pins, write reviews and eat pizza!

Friday, 3:30pm--Ladybug Combo! Check out the Ladybug website for a more detailedexplanation. These are awesome picture books targeted towards K-3rd grade. We're going to read a few (mini story time), then we'll have a Skype author visit with Chris Van Dusen, the multiple-award-winning author of "Circus Ship"! He will read his book to us and talk to the kids and answer questions! After that, we'll have ladybug cookies and the kids can vote for their favorite.

Aspen and Ursula will be back next week on Monday--please email, call or come in to sign up for a time to read!

Upcoming Excitement

4th, 5th and 6th graders:
This Thursday at 6pm is the second Great Stone Face and Pizza! Bring back the books you chose last time, get your pins, pick new books, eat Papa Gino's pizza, read and write reviews on the library's blog! This time, we'll meet in the meeting room instead of in the story time room :)
Thursday, Oct. 14th at 6pm.




It's the third annual "It's the Great Pumpkin Party"!
Everyone is welcome in the meeting room--we'll make cute stuffed pumpkins. Then you'll have a chance to pick a pumpkin book to check out before we all sit down to pumpkin donuts (Thank you, Dunkin Donuts!!) and apple cider while watching "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown"!
