July 11-15 for Kids at the Library
We have a full week this time :) Only one thing to sign up for--Thursday's event with the Children's Museum of NH.
Monday, 12:00pm--Sandwiches & Stories. Bring your lunch to the library for an outdoor picnic! Eat your lunch while listening to stories, then do a craft, play a game, do some activities.
Tuesday, 4:00pm--Tail Waggin' Tutors. Come read to Dennis, our certified therapy dog! He loves kids and stories. Every kid can sign up for a 15 minute time slot for their individual story with our Skye terrier.
Wednesday, 6:00pm--Zumba for 7-12 year olds with Christine Antonucci. This was so much fun last week! Please come in to dance and laugh with friends :)
Thursday, 3:30pm--Amazing Inventions, presented by the Children's Museum of NH. Sign up for this awesome event with chances for YOU to invent...as well as information on everyone's favorite invention: The chocolate chip cookie! This event is designed for ages 5-11.

July 27-31 for Kids at the Library

Tuesday, 12:00pm--Bookmobile. North Route.
Wednesday, 6:00pm--Superhero Academy. Sidekicks! We all need them. Choose carefully, build some trust, then fight evil together!
Thursday, 12:00pm--Bookmobile. South Route.
4:00-6ishpm--Hero Stories! Comics Workshop with Marek Bennett (Ages 8-11, MUST SIGN UP!) An awesome opportunity to learn to draw your own comics. This workshop will also include a pizza supper break--please mention any dietary concerns when you sign up! See http://www.marekbennett.com for more information and to check out his fantastic work :)
Friday, 3:30pm--Super Movie Time! Come see the brand new movie based on Adam Rex's brilliant book "The True Meaning of Smekday"! AC and free popcorn too :)

Welcome to the summer reading program "Every Hero Has a Story!" :) Here's what's going on this coming week:
Monday, 12pm: Sandwiches & Stories (all ages, drop in). Bring your picnic lunch to the library! While you eat, Paula will read stories. When you're done, she will have an activity/game or a craft for you to do.
Tuesday,3-5pm: Be a Hero--NHSPCA Crafts. Stop in to make toys and treats for the animals at the NHSPCA. This is also your first chance to sign up for the NHSPCA Field Trip (details below).
Wednesday, 6pm: SUPER AMAZING SING-ALONG WITH STEVE BLUNT!! You don't want to miss this oh-so-much-fun musician. Really you don't.
The library is CLOSED on Friday--go watch fireworks :)
The NHSPCA Field trip: I will be leading a caravan to the Stratham SPCA on Tuesday, July 7. We'll meet at the library at 3pm and roll out ASAP. I am not allowed to take anyone in my car--library policy--but I am really hoping that some of you will have an extra seat or two to share. If you do, please let me know and I will keep a list--I will only give your information to a person who asks for a ride and needs the number of seats you have available. SIGN-UPS for the field trip will not begin until June 30.

Sign Up for Story Times!
Tuesdays at 10:30--Babygarten for 0-2 year olds. We have a new program that we're using now. It's specifically designed to assist your child's development and make that development fun for you and them! It involves a lot of rhymes and songs, a story, a project and play time/coffee time.
Wednesdays at 6:00--Bedtime Stories for 3-5 year olds. Stories, songs, rhymes, flannelboard stories and a craft afterward. Please dress for a mess :) Also, while adults MUST remain in the library, they may opt for peace and quiet outside the story time room until their children are done.
Thursdays at 10:30--Story Time for 2s and 3s. A few stories, lots of songs and rhymes, a flannelboard story and a craft at the end. Please dress for a mess :)
Please email lmichaud@sealib.org , call 474-2044 or stop by my desk to let me know if you'll be joining us for one of these story times--I feel quite embarrassed when I come up short of craft or project supplies!

Monday, July 30 at 7:30pm: Skywatch with the NH Astronomical Society. If you've attended their other programs, you know just how cool this is. We'll meet in the Meeting Room to hear what can be seen in the sky right now, then we'll go out to where the telescopes are waiting!Tuesday, July 31 at 4:00pm: Stuffed Animal Sleepover! Bring your second-favorite stuffed friend over for a story, then make them a nametag and tuck them in for a night at the library :) They can be picked up on Wednesday, Aug. 1 after noon. They'll have a little book of their adventures.
Wednesday, August 1 at 6pm: PJ Story Time. This is it--the very last one! Wear your jammies and bring (or pick up!) your stuffed friend for one last round of stories, songs and craft/activity.
READING LOGS ARE DUE WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 1 AT 7:30PM!
Thursday, August 2 at 3:30pm: Final Party with Judy Pancoast! Enjoy Grammy-nominated musician Judy Pancoast and pick up your prizes, enjoy treats, see who won passes to the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center and Leo's Super Bowl, and who gets to sleep over at the library!

Wednesday, July 25 at 6:00pm: Owls of the World--Whoo's Watching You? with Eyes on Owls. Teacher/naturalist Marcia Wilson and author/photographer/naturalist Mark Wilson introduce you to the owls of New England and beyond. Learn field marks, signs and skills that you can use to find wild owls. Meet six live owls up close! Get a hooting lesson and learn how to attract and protect owls near you.
Thursday, July 26 1:00-5:00pm: Drop In Craft: Firefly Jars. In case imprisoning bugs isn't for you, here's a glowing jar just for you!

Tuesday, July 10 at 3:00pm & 4:00pm: Rockets: There and Back again with the Boston Museum of Science. Create an air rocket that launches across the room, and engineer a way for a payload to return safely to Earth. This hands-on workshop explores the science behind rockets and space exploration. Use your imagination to plan, build, and test your own design.
You must SIGN UP for this--they have given me a limit, so please call or email!

Monday, July 2 at 3:00pm: Star Wars Party! We'll have Yoda cupcakes (oh yes, you get to assemble your own!), pin the light saber on the Jedi, Jedi mind training and more... costumes are encouraged :)
Thursday, July 5 1:00-5:00pm: Drop In Craft: Pillowcase Stamping. If we're going to dream, let's make it fun to go to bed! I'll have some cool spacy stamps and fabric paint, you bring a blank pillowcase! If you don't have a pillowcase you're willing to sacrifice, please let me know and we'll find one!

Sign Up for Story Times! March 6--April 13
Story Times will run Mar. 6 through Apr. 13 at the Seabrook Library. Sign up for the following sessions:
Tuesday, 10:30am. Toddlers: 1-2 year olds.
Wednesday, 3:30pm. 4-6s On Their Own: 4-6 year olds.
Thursday, 11:00am. 2s and 3s With Parents: 2-3 year olds.
Friday, 11:00am. 3s and 4s On Their Own: 3-4 year olds.
Each Story Time is different: The Toddlers group will have mostly songs and fingerplays or rhymes, with a couple very simple books. Then the little ones will play while the grown-ups have coffee and tea and a little time to socialize.
The 2s and 3s With Parents Story Time is slightly more advanced, with some songs and fingerplays, but we’ll also introduce picture books and ask a few simple questions. Instead of play time, this group will make a small craft at the end.
3s and 4s On Their Own will follow the same format, but while they’re in story time, their parents will have a chance to select their own library materials.
The 4-6s On Their Own group will have a couple songs or fingerplays, but most of the time will be spent reading and talking about the stories while their parents have a chance to select their own materials. They will also have a craft at the end.

Monday, Dec. 12 at 3:30: Lego Builders--The Christmas Edition. Come build something for Santa to deliver, to ride in, to live at.... You'll have 50 minutes to build and 10 minutes to show it off and get your picture taken.Tuesday, Dec. 13, 1-5: Drop In Christmas Craft--Cinnamon Dough Ornaments. This is the best-smelling craft ever! Mix your dough, cut out shapes and take them home to dry.
Wednesday, Dec. 14, 6pm: Polar Express Story Time! Old Time Radio star Don Bagley returns to read wonderful Christmas stories while you enjoy Starbucks hot chocolate. After the stories, children will receive a bell, a stocking and a book.
Thursday, Dec. 15, 3:30pm: Family Christmas Movie Time. Watch your favorite Christmas specials (a double feature if they're short!) with friends while eating popcorn and drinking hot chocolate.

Ladybug Books and Treats: Nov. 30 at 3:30
Ten GREAT picture books have been nominated for an award, but YOU have to choose the winner! Listen to some of them and look through the others while you eat ladybug treats. Then children in kindergarten and 1-3 grades will vote for the winner! This event is open to all ages, but only children in those grades may vote.Results will be announced in early December after statewide voting ends.

Story Time Stuff
Friday, Oct. 28 at 11am--No Nightmares Story Time for Little Monsters. Halloween-themed, but not even a little bit scary. And of course, a craft afterwards. Costumes are encouraged, but not required.
Ok, now into the big long drone about regular Story Times. First off: PLEASE SIGN UP. If anyone asks you about story times, tell them to SIGN UP. Just call 474-2044 or email lmichaud@sealib.org I need to know how many crafts to prepare and it's important that each child has a seat at the table.
Story Times will run Nov. 1-25 but NO STORY TIMES ON NOV. 11 or 24--If your group is either of those days, please feel free to join the next closest age group's storytime instead for that week.

If you'd like to sign up for a story time, choose the appropriate one and call me or email me your child's name and age, and your name and phone number.

There will be winter story times: from Jan 10 to Feb. 18. The usual
schedule:
Tuesday, 10:30am. 1-2 year olds, Toddlers Story Time.
Wednesday, 3:00pm. 4-6 year olds, Runners Story Time.
Thursday, 11:00am. 2-3 year olds, Walkers with Parents Story Time.
Friday, 11:00am. 3-4 year olds, Independent Walkers Story Time.
There will be a different theme each week, from New Years to Valentines, etc.
Our space is limited, so please call 474-2044 or email lmichaud@sealib.org to sign up—-these limits exist not only because of space but also so that each child will have the best Story Time experience possible.
