School is on the horizon! But before it gets here, come to the library
to get ready. There are a lot of these backpacks available--they all
include a bag of supplies (a pack of construction paper, crayons, safety
scissors, glue stick, alphabet foam stickers, play doh), several books
(different books in each pack), and a folder of helpful activities. All I
need from you is the child's first name and the town you live in.
Please get a backpack and help a kid get started :)

July 18-22 for Kids at the Library
This week will be hot and busy--we do have AC at the library :) (Also, for those of you who were here yesterday, it's fixed!) And in case you're wondering, yes, you can still sign up for the Summer Reading Program.
Monday, 12:00pm--Sandwiches & Stories. Bring your lunch to the library for
an outdoor picnic! Eat your lunch while listening to stories, then do a
craft, play a game, do some activities.
NO Tail Waggin' Tutors on Tuesday, but you'll be able to sign up for the 26th.
Wednesday, 6:00pm--Zumba for 7-12 year olds with Christine Antonucci. Now that the AC is at 100%, come in to dance and laugh with your friends :)
Thursday, 3:30--Meet a Hero! Remember last year when the Fire Department and Police Department brought their vehicles over and everyone got to climb all over them and talk to the firefighters and officers? Well, they're coming back and this time the Department of Public Works will join us too! I don't know what vehicle(s) they're bringing, but I bet it'll be BIG :) Bring your cameras and water bottles. Please plan on parking in the old Wal-Mart lot since the library's parking lot will be full.
See you soon!

Bookmobile Route for Thursday--revised
Thursday route needs some tweaks for safe parking without blocking the road! Still starting at 12:00pm and running approximately 10 minutes between stops.
Here's the adjusted stops:
1) Christopher Manor apartments--I'll drive slowly to the back, then up through to be as close to the road as I can without being a problem.
2) BergeronWay/Lower Collins (Fowler's Court is just too narrow!)
3) The west entrance of Viola Circle
4) 284/South Main (the abandoned parking lot)
5) The Rand Church by Stan's Way
6) Veteran's Memorial Park--the parking strip by the ball field.
7) Trinity United Parish--Folly Mill is just too narrow all the way through, but that's still reasonable walking distance
8) Lakeshore Drive--again, no good place to stop and sit, but I'll just drive through that whole neighborhood really slowly.

Tuesday,3-5pm: Be a Hero--NHSPCA Crafts. Stop in to make toys and treats for the animals at the NHSPCA. This is also your first chance to sign up for the NHSPCA Field Trip (details below).

The library is CLOSED on Friday--go watch fireworks :)
The NHSPCA Field trip: I will be leading a caravan to the Stratham SPCA on Tuesday, July 7. We'll meet at the library at 3pm and roll out ASAP. I am not allowed to take anyone in my car--library policy--but I am really hoping that some of you will have an extra seat or two to share. If you do, please let me know and I will keep a list--I will only give your information to a person who asks for a ride and needs the number of seats you have available. SIGN-UPS for the field trip will not begin until June 30.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

"Every Hero Has a Story!" Summer Reading Program
Greetings!
The summer reading program--Every Hero Has a Story!--is about to begin!
The simplest way to explain everything is to say, "Be here on June 25 at 3:30". That's the Kickoff Party: There will be cake, at least one animal to pet, a story, and your first chance to sign children up for "Every Hero Has a Story". However, if you can't make it that day, it's ok--you can sign kids up any time after that. You don't have to do anything before the party: just show up! Everyone's invited :)
Program basics: You can come to the library whenever you want. Children can read whatever they want. I will provide everything you need in order to participate.
I do still need a couple people to help out with the Kickoff Party: I have people for refreshments, but I'll need two more--one to hand out sign up slips and pencils, one to give out bags for completed slips. Easy and painless, I promise :)
Questions? Call 474-2044 and ask for Lisa or email lbricker@sealib.org and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
Thank you and see you soon!

Thank you!
On behalf of the Seabrook Library, I would like to
thank those who made our summer reading program a success. Since I am the sole children’s librarian, it
is only the generosity of all of these people and companies that has made a
reality out of my plans.
Thank you to the many companies or organizations
made donations: Seabrook Station, our
most faithful and generous supporter, sponsored our Critters ‘n Creatures
program. Bob’s Discount Furniture has
assisted us financially for several years now.
Topsfield Fair provided prizes and a Growums project, as they have for
the past several years. Polar Caves and
Ruggles Mine provided free passes for prizes for our readers.
The individuals who graciously offered to help or
donate items, either in advance or on the spot, include Beth Paiva, Gina
McGinness, Mikki Phillips, Debbie Simonelli, Catherine Evans, Anna Evans and
Bobby Evans, Beth Eckman-White, Nancy Gagne, Marcee Souther, Dyan Kaplan,
Barbara Otterson and I know there were more.
Thank you.
To the 111 children who signed up—you make this the
best job ever! To the parents of the 111
children—your dedication to your children’s literacy and community involvement
will come back to reward not only you but the whole community as well. Thank you.
Thank you all; I appreciate your help more than I
can say.
Lisa Michaud, Children’s Librarian.
