G’day, mates! Singer/storyteller Steve Blunt and didgeridoo musician Joseph B. Carringer have teamed up for this Aussie-flavored family CD. The highlight is “Hip Hop Kangaroo,” the story of a young marsupial who achieves fame rapping and dancing across The Land Down Under. The CD features traditional singalongs (“Waltzing Matilda” and “Kookaburra”), storytelling, and fun, upbeat original tunes...with rousing choruses and superb didgeridoo-playing throughout. Blunt and Carringer came together to develop material for the New Hampshire State Library’s summer reading theme for 2008, “G’Day for Reading!” (a celebration of all things Australian).
Lisa Loeb and Elizabeth Mitchell perform a charming set of kids' sleepy-time music, featuring both traditional tunes and originals. Loeb's quiet gentle singing works well with the spare accompaniment. They are accompanied by guitar, banjo, piano, bells and children. From familiar songs, such as "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star," and "Big Rock Candy Mountain", they branch out into their own tunes. Calm, soft, and sweet, these songs will soothe children into naptime or bedtime.
